Company History

1910 – Adolph Coors invests in Herold China and Pottery Company, manufacturer of oven-safe porcelain.


1915 – World War I severs German supply of chemical porcelain. We retool and respond to new demand.


1920 – Company renamed Coors Porcelain.


1940s – Isostatic press technology is developed — allows cost-efficient production of large ceramic parts; Company expands product line to include products and technologies that become the cornerstone of today’s ceramics business.



1980s – Company expands its reach into technology markets including telecommunications, electronics, and semiconductor components.



1986 – Company changes name to Coors Ceramics -- now a leader in technical ceramics for nearly every segment of the global economy.

1992 – Adolph Coors Company spins off ACX Technologies, which includes Coors Ceramics and other non-brewery assets.

Late 1990s – The Company begins a new era of expansion and growth acquiring several strategic capabilities including metal machining, engineering plastics, and assembly capabilities.



2000 – Spun-off from ACX Technologies, the company changes its name to CoorsTek to reflect the change in capabilities and begins its existence as a separate, publicly-traded company on January 1, 2000.



2003 – CoorsTek became a private company for the first time since the mid-seventies.
