Alexa Dembek is the Chief Technology & Sustainability Officer for DuPont. She is responsible for developing and implementing DuPont’s innovation and sustainability strategy across the portfolio of market-leading, high growth businesses in Electronics & Industrial, Water & Protection and Materials & Mobility. She was named to this role following the merger of Dow Chemical and E.I. DuPont in September of 2017.
From 2015-2017, Ms. Dembek served as Senior Director for Central Research and Development / Science & Innovation. She led the bold and intentional re-design of Central Research and Development (10% of $2B total R&D investment) to a more responsive, market-oriented, innovation machine by embedding talent and capabilities into the businesses to be close to customers and applications.
From 2012-2015, Ms. Dembek served as the Global Business Director for the corporate new business development venture in Energy Storage. She led a multi-business R&D, marketing and M&A venture team to define a compelling business case for entering the Energy Storage industry in Asia by developing differentiated electrolyte technology.
Between 2011-2012, she served as the Regional Business Director for Performance Polymers Americas. She held P&L responsibility for the $1.2B revenue North and South America Performance Polymers business across diverse Engineering Polymers and Elastomer products lines and Automotive, Industrial, Consumer and Electronics market segments.
Ms. Dembek earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Northern Illinois University and a PhD in Chemistry from Penn State University.
