Long-Life and Precision with Ceramic Blades and Sharpeners

Ceramic materials substantially increase blade life and precision due to their inherent strength and wear resistance. Precision machining is available for complete parts or blanks for your machining.

Benefits
Our CeraPure™ technical ceramics for cutting blades and sharpeners provide many essential advantages, including:

  • Up to 100x lifetime compared to standard steel
  • Zirconia lasts 20% longer than tungsten carbide.
  • Electrically resistant with ESD options
  • Corrosion resistant
  • High strength
  • Machined or sold as blanks
  • Fine grain structures allow for finishes <1μm

Applications:
CoorsTek technical ceramic materials and manufacturing capabilities provide unsurpassed durability and precision for cutting and sharpening instruments including:

  • Medical device blades
  • Capsule cutters (Pharmaceutical)
  • Exacto-style blades and cutters
  • Large ceramic trimmer blades
  • Knife sharpeners

Family of blade cutting tools.

CoorsTek Materials

CoorsTek ceramic cutting components are wear-resistant, high performance, and long-life alternatives for traditional stainless steel and tungsten carbide components. All our materials offer superior abrasion, erosion, and corrosion resistance when compared to steel blade materials.

Zirconia - When your application demands high strength and toughness, CoorsTek offers a variety of zirconia-toughened aluminas and toughened zirconia materials. These toughened materials not only provide superior mechanical properties, but also offer electrical insulation, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.

CeraPure™ high purity ceramics provide many essential advantages including high-strength, resistance to thermal shock, high-temperature electrical resistivity, and superior chemical resistance.

Alumina (aluminum oxide,Al2O3) technical ceramics are commonly used due to their generally useful properties and good price/performance ratio. Alumina ceramics are commonly subdivided according to their alumina content ranging from 80% to more than 99%. Higher purity alumina demonstrates enhanced wear and corrosion resistance — creating a continuous scale of various alumina grades, compositions, and performance.

CoorsTek Manufacturing Capabilities

Ceramic micro injection molding - Injection molding eliminates the need for secondary operations normally required to produce complex geometrical shapes. The more complex the shape, the more advantageous injection molding will be over other fabrication methods.
