CoorsTek Announces New Technical Ceramic Research and Development Center in The Netherlands

Golden, Colo., July 23, 2018 – CoorsTek, the world’s leader in engineered ceramics, announced today the opening of a new research and development (R&D) center in Uden, The Netherlands. This new European R&D center is closely connected with CoorsTek R&D teams in the United States and Japan, and is dedicated to developing technical ceramics capabilities to support CoorsTek customers around the world. CoorsTek has grown to eight manufacturing sites in Europe, and this R&D investment in the Uden facility is the next step in a multi-year process to expand capabilities in the European market – better positioning the company to continue serving as a leader in technical ceramics innovation and development.
“We are pleased to announce the opening of our newest R&D facility and look forward to further growing our expertise in creative ceramic solutions through deeper collaboration with our customers here in Europe,” said Randel Mercer, Chief Technology Officer at CoorsTek. “CoorsTek is an expert in solving the most difficult materials challenges, and this investment allows us to expand our research and technical efforts to more effectively meet the needs of our customers.”
This new R&D center is co-located with an automated CoorsTek ceramics manufacturing facility in Uden.
“We have a strong and committed R&D team in place in Europe, with extensive experience in ceramic processing,” said Arno Brus, Director of R&D EMEA. “The European R&D facility will help us strengthen existing, and create new, cooperation with customers both inside and outside of Europe. We will also work in close collaboration with CoorsTek facilities globally to provide our customers superior ceramic solutions.”
As with the company’s other global R&D facilities in the United States and Japan, the Uden facility will take the lead from market needs, current trends, and future customer challenges across the region.
“This new European R&D capability is part of an ongoing $130 million global materials and technology investment that further encourages customer collaboration to develop application-driven materials,” said Jonathan Coors, Co-Chief Executive Officer at CoorsTek. “The three R&D facilities have foundational capabilities to support our global mission, while also providing localized technical expertise to meet the regional needs of our customers.”
The opening of the Uden R&D facility was commemorated through a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 18, 2018. For more information on specific capabilities at the CoorsTek Uden R&D facility, please contact Arno Brus at abrus@coorstek.com.
