CoorsTek Continues Partnership with the University of Colorado’s 2023 Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair

February 16 2023

Golden, CO. – CoorsTek is pleased to announce that it is continuing its title sponsorship for the 60th Annual Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair (DMRSEF). The 2023 fair will be held February 24-25 at the CU Denver campus.

DMRSEF is a competitive annual battle and a year-round program that supports students and teachers through the research process, from concept to completion. Throughout the year, DMRSEF and CoorsTek partner to ensure the students have the necessary resources to excel in this competition. CoorsTek volunteers help students with their projects and career ambitions by participating in the “Speak with a Scientist” series, the Activity Fair, and in judging projects.

“We are really looking forward to seeing the students and their projects in person this year, after several years of doing this virtually,” said Randel Mercer, Chief Technology Officer for CoorsTek. “The students did a remarkable job during that time period, but we are thrilled they are back in person, and excited to see what they deliver this year. This is such a good opportunity for us to encourage and motivate this next generation of STEM leaders and we are honored to play this important role.”

The annual competition engages students in eight counties from Denver metro-area middle schools, high schools, and home schools. DMRSEF is one of Colorado’s 13 Science and Engineering Regional Fairs, with the top winners qualifying to compete in the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair.

The 2022 fair went virtual only weeks before the start and was a remarkable success. The fair had over 180 student scientists from multiple schools across Denver metro counties, with over a hundred community volunteers and professional judges. The 2022 DMRSEF nominated 37 projects to compete at the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) held at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

CoorsTek presents its own special award to those students whose projects align with the company’s vision, “We Make the World Measurably Better.”  These submissions are judged on the students’ innovation, creativity, and how they present their comprehensive project details.

About The Denver Metro Regional Science and Engineering Fair (DMRSEF)
The DMRSEF was established in 1963 by the University of Colorado to give pre-collegiate researchers an outlet to engage their scientific interests and an opportunity to interact with professional researchers and scientists. Serving eight counties in the Denver metropolitan area (Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, and Summit), the CoorsTek DMRSEF provides area middle school and high school students a vehicle to develop their scientific skillsets and an annual opportunity to present their research. Winners from the CoorsTek DMRSEF go on to compete in the Colorado Science and Engineering Fair (CSEF) and the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).The 60th Annual CoorsTek DMRSEF will be hosted from February 24-25, 2023.
