CoorsTek Highlights Advantages of Technical Ceramic Components at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology EXPO 2022
CoorsTek Research and Development Engineer, Aaron Miller, PhD, to present technical session on the benefits of silicon nitride bearing balls for EV traction motors over steel.
Golden, CO – CoorsTek, the world’s leading manufacturer of technical ceramics, will be featuring their many solutions for electric vehicles at the Electric & Hybrid Vehicle Technology Expo in Novi, Michigan, September 13-15, 2022, booth 1258. Advancements in electric vehicle design are accelerating to keep up with the exponential growth in demand. CoorsTek ceramic components allow for new levels of performance previously unattainable with traditional metal and polymer materials. They extend system life, improve performance, and increase safety.
A highlight of the show will be the presentation at the EV Development and Outlook Technical Sessions by CoorsTek R&D Engineer Aaron Miller, PhD, on the benefits of using silicon nitride bearing balls for EV motor shaft bearings. They offer the ideal combination of mechanical strength and electrical resistivity. Unlike steel, silicon nitride hybrid bearing assemblies provide strong electrical insulation to prevent arcing without compromise to critical mechanical properties. Dr. Miller’s presentation will be on Thursday, September 15th from 1:45 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Since 1910, CoorsTek has been at the forefront of technical ceramic engineering and development, and has been a trusted and consistent automotive supplier for over 70 years. CoorsTek developed the original silicon nitride bearing ball technology, introducing the Cerbec® brand in 1985.
For battery modules, high voltage distribution systems, electrified powertrains, and more, CoorsTek’s technical ceramics are essential components in many EV systems. “As a vertically integrated manufacturer, we oversee every step of the production process from powder processing through forming, firing, finishing, and inspection—guaranteeing the highest possible quality and performance,” said Andreas Schneider, CoorsTek Executive Vice President, Commercial Automotive and EMEA. CoorsTek offers a full suite of technical capabilities, custom solutions, and cooperative development opportunities to ensure optimized performance for individual applications, allowing customers to realize their competitive edge.
