CoorsTek Thailand Installs On-Site Solar Power System

February 09 2025

Rayong, Thailand — CoorsTek, a leading global manufacturer of technical ceramics, installed a 1.5 megawatt-peak (MWp) rooftop and carport solar photovoltaic (PV) system that is now fully operational at the company’s manufacturing facility in Rayong, Thailand. CoorsTek partnered with TotalEnergies as the engineering, procurement, and construction company.

The system is expected to generate approximately 2,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable electricity annually, providing significant cost savings for CoorsTek and reducing the company’s carbon footprint by about 840 metric tons of CO2 emissions pe/r year. A major benefit of the new system is the monitoring capabilities which enable CoorsTek to track solar generation and electric consumption in real-time.

“I’m incredibly proud of our teams at CoorsTek for their dedication to safety and quality in making this vision a reality,” said Lucian Strong, CoorsTek Vice President Medical & Technologies. “This project is a testament to our commitment to renewable energy and responsible business practices. By embracing sustainable solutions we’re not only strengthening our bottom line, but also safeguarding our people, planet, and precious resources for future generations.”

“The Thailand project marks an exciting milestone as our first on-site solar energy initiative—but it certainly won’t be our last,” said Dara Ward, CoorsTek Director of Sustainability. “By leveraging real-time data, we can better match our energy consumption with peak solar production, maximizing the use of renewable power and reducing our environmental footprint. We look forward to expanding our use of renewable energy to drive a cleaner, more resilient future.”

A standout feature of the system is the integration of an infinity symbol built into the rooftop panel design. An element of the CoorsTek logo, the infinity symbol represents the company's commitment to limitless innovation.
