We have taken extraordinary care to ensure our employees and business partners remain healthy, and safety remains our number one priority. Are CoorsTek facilities still in operation?
Yes. CoorsTek facilities worldwide are open and operational at this time. This includes locations that have been designated as shelter-in-place communities, as we are considered an essential critical infrastructure business.

What is a "Critical Infrastructure Business"?
According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency, "functioning critical infrastructure is imperative during the response to the COVID-19 emergency for both public health and safety as well as community well-being. Certain critical infrastructure industries have a special responsibility in these times to continue operations."¹

Based upon guidance issued in the  March 19 memo issued by the U.S .Department of Homeland Security, CoorsTek has determined that our business and manufacturing facilities are essential to the continued viability of the critical infrastructure of the United States. Consequent to the guidance issued by the Government of the United Kingdom (UK), CoorsTek manufacturing sites will remain operational. Visit the UK Government Guidance page for more information. Based upon guidance from the Scottish Government issued on March 25, 2020 CoorsTek has determined that our business is part of supporting essential services with supplying health and medical industry and other critical national infrastructure sectors such as energy, communications, telecommunications, and chemicals.

Based upon guidance from the Office of the Premier, CoorsTek has deemed its operations essential in Paris, ON. Visit the Ontario List of Essential Workplaces page for more information.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2020, Japan issued a state of emergency declaration that targets seven prefectures, including two CoorsTek locations (Hadano facility and Tokyo sales office). However, this declaration has no impact on our operations or ability to serve customers at this time.



What is CoorsTek doing to protect workers and other business partners from contracting COVID-19?
In order to protect our employees and patrons, CoorsTek has implemented stringent and consistent protocols throughout our facilities worldwide in line with guidance from the World Health Organization.

We operate our business in line with safe social distancing practice and follow health and safety requirements of national authorities in countries where we operate, including (but not limited to),  guidance issued by the US Centers for Disease Control, the United Kingdom Public Health Guidelines, and guidance issued by the government of Scotland.

CoorsTek specific COVID-19 protocols include:

  • Restricting non-essential visitors and issuing essential visitor guidelines and monitoring procedures
  • Restricting all non-essential travel
  • Implementing strict quarantine and “stay at home if you’re sick” policies for any exposed or unwell employees
  • Limiting meetings and in-person interactions, and social distancing protocols
  • Personal hygiene procedures
  • Limiting access to common areas and entrances
  • Daily temperature monitoring of all employees entering facilities
  • Issuing work area disinfecting guidelines
  • Providing regular updates to employees and their families via video, email, web content and distanced meetings with supervisory personnel.



How will CoorsTek respond in the event of a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case at a CoorsTek facility?
In addition to precautionary measures, CoorsTek has developed plans to handle cases of diagnosed or suspected infections on a case-by-case basis, and in line with local government requirements. At a minimum, affected work areas are vacated for three hours for cleaning and disinfecting. Employees identified as being in close contact will be asked to self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days from the time of last close contact (as defined by the US Centers for Disease Control). Our primary goal is to protect the health of our employees while working to maintain operations.

CoorsTek takes a systematic and proactive approach to Business Continuity Planning (BCP), and continually considers the best ways to effectively respond to potential events. As part of our BCP, we evaluate our inventory and alternate manufacturing options to provide resilience and continuity. Both in times of growth and uncertainty, our vertically integrated manufacturing and global footprint allow us to provide unparalleled service to our customers worldwide. 


Is CoorsTek experiencing any supply chain disruptions due to COVID-19 that might affect the ability to  deliver orders?

As of this writing, we have experienced minimal disruptions due to COVID-19 affecting our ability to fulfill confirmed orders, and are currently notifying impacted customers. We have also seen some delays in our international shipments that may affect when orders are received. As CoorsTek becomes aware of these delays, we will advise customers as necessary so they can plan accordingly.

To date, we have only experienced minimal disruptions to our supply chain, but these disruptions have not caused production delays. We have issued a letter notifying our suppliers of the critical nature of their continued business with CoorsTek. A copy of this letter can be viewed here.
