Technical Ceramic Poppet Valves for Measurement While Drilling Pulsar Units
Some Measurement While Drilling (MWD) tools use mud pulse telemetry to transmit measurement information from the bottomhole assembly to the surface. MWD tools use poppet valves as a check-type valve that ensures continuous fluid flow during the drilling process. These valves also prevent flow-back and reduce debris in the pipe.
During the mud pulse telemetry process, the downhole poppet valve is opened/closed to restrict the flow of the drilling mud in a pattern according to the digital information to be transmitted. The abrasive nature of the drilling fluid can erode/damage the downhole poppet valve.
